Flansburgh's design for Holbrook's new combined PK-12 facility for J.F.K. Elementary School and Holbrook Middle High School, opened earlier this year, is one of the four projects to receive the Fall 2018 Honorable Mention Awards from Learning By Design magazine. The other winning projects are the Happy Valley Elementary School in Bellingham, WA; Malcolm X College and School of Health Sciences in Chicago, IL; and Charter Oak International Academy in West Hartford, CT.

The jury lauded Flansburgh's integrated, wholistic approach to design articulated through the facade and the organization of Holbrook PreK-12 School:

The design concept as displayed on the exterior via the spine and the campus green are not design design features, but help to separate the two school...The concept of thorough investigation is revealed in the planning and design.
