After the success of Flansburgh-designed Perles Family Studio, Jacob's Pillow selected the Flansburgh team for its next major architecture project, the renovation of the aged Ted Shawn Theatre. The theatre, built by Joseph Franz in 1942 and named after the Pillow's founder and modern dance pioneer Ted Shawn, presents a challenging and exciting project for Flansburgh.
As "a curated series of entertaining and informative discussions with choreographers, writers, filmmakers, and cultural experts," PillowTalks offered Flansburgh President and Principal-in-Charge David Croteau, AIA, an ideal venue to share with the public the design team's vision for the upcoming renovation. On July 28, Mr. Croteau traveled to Jacob's Pillow and spoke about the Ted Shawn Theatre project at length, with a focus on how to address its urgent backstage needs, and listened to the audience's feedback on different aspects of the planned renovation.
