Flansburgh Architects has completed the design of a new 11,000 SF classroom building for the Barrie School that will include seven classrooms and a large common room. The building is nestled among the large beech trees of the wooded campus with decks, terraces, and outdoor stairs creating a treehouse feel. The inclusion of outdoor space for every classroom, a key element for the Montessori program, was a priority for Barrie. The common room features an amphitheater stair that links the large gathering space with an upper floor outdoor terrace, and is connected to a large outdoor deck on the first floor. This space will be used by the entire school community.
