For the third Phase of its Campus Master Plan, International College will restore and remodel one of its 100-year old stone buildings. The 1,800 square meter structure currently serves as IC's Preschool, although the rooms are undersized and restricted by the internal structural columns. The renovation involves completely removing the internal columns, walls, and floors while reinforcing the old stone exterior walls with an internal concrete jacket. A newly re-built interior will allow for larger rooms and higher ceilings, and will update the building to current code standards.

The concept for the design is to transform the Preschool into a world of soft curves and colors, a contrast to the rectangular stone historic structure as seen from the outside. The interior experience encourages movement, creativity, and introduces more glass and light. The three-story building will have two music rooms and a teaching kitchen on the ground floor to the serve the whole Preschool, half of which will inhabit the new Phase 2 Preschool building. The second and third floors will have four classrooms each, plus administrative offices and a faculty room. Every level includes a large central Atelier space, a Reggio Emilia-inspired creative arts space shared by all the classrooms.
