Lawrence Academy

Community Common and Science Center | Groton, MA

Founded in 1793, Lawrence Academy (LA) is one of the oldest independent schools in the United States. Situated in picturesque Groton, Mass., the 135-acre campus lies just 35 miles northwest of Boston, in the heart of New England, and is home to 400 students. LA recognizes those students for who they are and inspires them to take responsibility for who they want to become.  Flansburgh Architects has been engaged to design two of LA’s most important campus priorities, the Community Common and the Science Center. The work includes developing multiple frameworks ranging from renovation to demolition and new construction for a variety of solutions. A range of architectural styles that integrate with the overall campus as well as add to the vocabulary of existing buildings within the constraints of the local Historic District.
