Seabury Hall | Maui, HI

Creative Arts Center

The Performing Arts Center at Seabury Hall replaces an outdated facility with a new 400-seat theatre on a promontory overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The project uses an economical pre-engineered steel shed structure to offset the costs of state-of-the-art theatre technology systems that include a tensile wire grid above the house and stage. An outdoor courtyard between the theatre and dance rehearsal pavilion provides ample work space during the day and an outdoor performance venue in the evening. A tree-lined pathway leads from grass parking area, along the outdoor courtyard, exposing student work to parents and arrives at a covered terrace and main lobby with dramatic views of the ocean. Portable platforms and retractable bleachers allow the performance hall to be converted in proscenium, thust, and arena stage arrangements as well as a large flat floor area for school dances and receptions.
