Systemic racism exists in our country and George Floyd’s tragic death reminds us that more must be done to fight discrimination. In the field of architecture, African Americans make up only 4% of registered architects, and black women account for only 0.3%. As a way to bring about change, Flansburgh Architects has donated to Project Pipeline, an initiative by the National Association of Minority Architects to introduce K-12 students to a career in architecture. By bringing more people of color into the field of architecture, we envision a more equitable contribution to shape our built environment.
