Project Architect and Professor Rita Doummar was honored with the Boston Society of Architect’s (BSA) Award for Excellence in Teaching. Ian F. Taberner of the Boston Architectural College (BAC) presented the award celebrating Rita’s 8 years of teaching at the school. Rita has instructed a variety of classes at BAC and is currently guiding the Thesis Studio students through the master’s program dissertation.
She summarized her teaching methodology in the statement below.
" Teaching is expressed in passion, engagement, curiosity, knowledge, and enthusiasm. But a teacher can only open the door. A consistent self-evaluation and stepping outside of our own personal comfort zone is the crucial key for success. I like to believe that I am here to motivate, to inspire, to support and to help overcome the limitation. Thesis is the foundation, and it is only the beginning for a long life of learning so do not settle and keep pushing. I will be there along the way to give, listen, and grow with you in a positive environment that will hopefully leave an honest imprint for you and for many others to follow." - Rita Doummar
