The new building for the American School Foundation of Guadalajara is expected to be completed by March 2021. The 6-story classroom building for high school students will include a cafeteria, kitchen, and administration offices on the ground floor, an upper school library, art rooms, science and maker space rooms, and classrooms on the upper floors. The classrooms feature transparent walls and cross ventilation with open-air corridors to take advantage of Guadalajara’s mild climate. The roof will be accessible to students and includes a partially shaded structure with seating for outdoor teaching opportunities and raised bed planters for ongoing gardening projects. Outdoor covered areas are provided in multiple locations on every floor, furnished for study or social use outside the classroom.
