The Groundbreaking for The Governor’s Academy’s Bill ’67 and Peter ’71 Alfond Coastal Research Center was Friday, June 10 at 3pm EST.
“With the Great Marsh on the north side of our campus, the Academy’s location is a living laboratory. Our students engage in original scientific research, learn sophisticated field research skills, and contribute to the local scientific community’s study of the Parker River and Great Marsh. The Bill ’67 and Peter ’71 Alfond Coastal Research Center will be a state-of-the-art research facility and include an aquatic laboratory fed by water drawn from the Parker River.”
“The Bass Institute, working in tandem with the Alfond Center, will be the intellectual center of teaching and research initiatives at the Academy. The Institute will play a vital role in partnerships with other research institutes, non-profit organizations, and local municipalities to coordinate scientific research and the sharing of data in the region.”
