The Chelmsford High School project involved a 256,000 square foot renovation and a 20,000 square foot addition of a new 1,000-seat performing arts center, which serves the school as well as the community. Renovations included a complete code update to meet current requirements as well as rebuilt science labs, improved HVAC systems, new electrical and data systems, handicap accessibility upgrades, and other improvements. Flansburgh’s careful planning and cost control kept construction on schedule and more than $700,000 under budget. Renovations cost $39/sf and new construction was $300/sf.
