Conceived as a camp-like cluster of rural buildings in a woodland setting, this two-story, 93,000 square foot school for 700 children in grades preK-5 is composed of rustic forms clad in wood siding, common brick, and copper trim. A central day-lit arrival space is used as a gathering space, exhibit space, and meeting space to foster a strong sense of community. Innovative project rooms, located between pairs of classrooms, are used extensively for small group work and in-class services.
