The Governor’s Academy, founded in 1763 on New England farmland, combines centuries of tradition with a dedication to educational innovation. The school is seeking to capitalize its distinctive location on the banks of the Parker River and great Atlantic salt marshes by developing project-based academic programs that promote environmental stewardship. Flansburgh Architects has been retained to design a new Marine Science Center overlooking the Parker River to provide a learning environment with outdoor classroom facilities in the campus woodland, collection stations, greenhouse, wet lab, boat dock, and a boardwalk in the marshes.
